By mid August, I knew I was not going back. I believe a phone conversation that I had with my husband, Michael Carlyle, was, "Honey, if you want to see me, I will be here!". He is one of those supportive quiet husbands who understood that he married a determined woman who had a free spirit. With mutual respect and mutual desire to live in Mexico during the winter months, he accepted the idea.
In the hot hot hot summer months, I would walk up and down the streets everyday looking for the perfect commercial location. We had considered an 'Art Cafe', since we both had experience working in restaurants and my husband is an artist. We also knew that owning a restaurant/cafe is a 24/7 job. That was not going to work with my 'laptop lifestyle' I had created. As I continued to do my research about town by meeting other expats and speaking to shop owners, I realized we could do this too. My personal business in consulting with people who are passionate about having a stand out business that becomes talk of the town came into play for ourselves. Taking my own Showstopper Method, we started a gallery and art studio in Bucerias that filled a niche. AND we did it under $2,000! We also designed a business that would give us time freedom.
There is much more we are excited to do that will make it shine brighter in the community, however, we got started. Sometimes you simply must take the step and just get started. You can fine tune later. From a one way ticket on July 27th with an idea in my head of living in Mexico to opening our first brick and mortar business Oct. 1st in a country where we don't know the language, has been fulfilling. Mexico is a country who embraces entrepreneurs.
If you are in Bucerias, Nayarit, Mexico, please come by and day 'Hola'.
Hasta Luego,
Floydilou
