An artist friend inspired me to paint., bought my supplies and we started on her back deck in Toronto, Ontario. Since then I've done several workshops with artists in Wasaga Beach, Ontario. Painting is a form of creative relaxation for me both in Canada and here in beautiful Bucerias.
I am from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, and attended the Red Deer College Fine Arts Program. I have been drawing and painting since childhood, and I really love working in bold colours. Oils are a perfect medium for me, since they move and float and change with every new viewing. My paintings reflect my moods from quiet contemplation to intense happiness The amazing vibrancy of Bucerias and Mexico inspire me. I am very happy to be living in Paradise being creative and living my dream.

However, after her first semester as an art major in college, she was disenchanted with the financial prospects of an art carrier and her dual love of travel kicked in. A year abroad in Europe, north Africa, and subsequent Peace Corps service in Guatemala exposed her culturally with lasting effects that continue to influence her life and art. A liveaboard for over 10 years, In 2006, Shannon and her husband brought their sailboat to Mexico and gravitated to textile arts due to compactness and ease of storage on the boat. Shannon and her husband have been land based in La Cruz for the last year where her sewing studio has migrated to land for the time being. Fibers, found objects, local textures and fabrics all find their way into her works, which often her reflect travels and experiences.
Tosia has found an outlet for her love of animals and the outdoors through her art. She enjoys sharing photographic and artistic renderings of her visions of nature, with those who wish to look just a little bit deeper into the shape and colour of a flower, or the expression on a cow's face!
